The creation and dissemination of maps has had a very relevant role historically and like any other means of information production has been in the hands and servicing those in power structures, who have used them for their own advantage for geopolitical and strategic interests.

In retrospect, we can take a look at the vast production of maps that have been carried out and note that most of those that have survived to our days especially since the Renaissance, when states first appeared in Europe and with the creation of the first colonies, don’t differ too much from the world view that we have today. This should lead us to reflection. Why is one map more correct than another? What measures their accuracy?
